Absolutely, paying attention to isolation is crucial when installing a mobile signal repeater . here is why :
What is isolation ?
Isolation refers to the physical separation and signal attenuation between the donor antenna(receibing the weak outdoor signal ) and the coverage antenna (broadcasting the amplified signal indoors )
Why is it important ?
Without proper isolation ,the amplified signal from the coverage antenna can"leak"back to the donor antenna . this creates a feedback loop where the repeater essentially amplfies its own noise ,leading to :
Oscillation and interference : this disrupts the network and renders the repeater ineffective .
Reduced system lifespan :excessive feedback can damage the repeater .
Potential interference with other radio services :this can be illegal and disrupt nearby devices .
How much isolation is needed ?
The nimimum isolation level depends on the gain(amplification) of your repeater .as a general rule ,the isolation value should be greater than the gain of the repeater . for example ,if your repeater has a +90db gain ,you will need at least 100db of isolation between the antennas.
Ensuring proper isolation :
Physical separation:ideally ,place the donor antenna as for away from the coverage antenna as possible ,preferably on opposite sides of the building .
Directional antennas :use directional antennas to mimimize signal overlap .
Coaxial cable quality :use high-quality coaxial cables with low signal loss .
Professional installation :consider professional installation for proper antenna placement and equipment configuration .
By prioritizing isolation during installation ,you can ensure your mobile signal repeater functions effectively ,avoids interference ,and operates safely .
