What's the difference between digital repeater and analog band selective repeater ?

What's the difference between digital repeater and analog band selective repeater ?

Both digital repeaters and analog band selective repeaters aim to amplify and re-transmit weakened signals, but they do so in fundamentally different ways, resulting in several key differences:

What's the difference between digital repeater and analog band selective repeater ? 1

Signal processing:

Digital repeater: Converts the received analog signal to a digital bit stream, cleans and enhances it using digital signal processing (DSP) algorithms like error correction and noise reduction, then converts it back to analog for re-transmission. This allows for precise manipulation and improvement of the signal.

Analog band selective repeater: Simply amplifies and re-transmits the received analog signal without any digital conversion or processing. This makes it less complex and potentially cheaper, but also more susceptible to noise and interference.

Selectivity:

Digital repeater: Can be programmed to only amplify signals within a specific frequency band, rejecting unwanted noise and interference from other frequencies. This makes it ideal for situations with crowded frequency spectra, such as mobile phone networks.

Analog band selective repeater: Uses filters to select a specific frequency range for amplification, but its selectivity is typically less precise than a digital repeater and may amplify some unwanted signals along with the desired one.

Signal quality:

Digital repeater: Can significantly improve signal quality by removing noise, correcting errors, and boosting weak signals. This results in clearer and more reliable communication.

Analog band selective repeater: Simply boosts the received signal's strength, but doesn't necessarily improve its quality. Noise and interference are also amplified along with the desired signal, potentially leading to degraded communication.

Configuration:

Digital repeater support 1~4 subbands of each band, and each subband bandw width reach 30mhz,  band width adjustbale.

Analog band selective repeater, it's a fix band width, band width can not changed after product finished, each band only could support one sub band, band width can not adjustable.
